I also hate these types of threads but cant resist my $.02. The LS1 is as many others have said... superior - no optispark is almost enough reason alone. That being said I still haven't driven an LS1 that is as fun as my LT1. LS1's are smooth, you can hardly tell your hauling a$$ while driving an LT1 is more like holding on to the tail of an angry beast.

and its DAMN hard to beat some AI ported LS1 heads
there are plenty of lt1 and lt4 heads that can be ported to be right there with ls1 heads...

and my lt1 with stock heads stayed even with an ls1 with stock heads and comparible mods all the way to 120, so, they arent so unbeatable...altho around here in buffalo a few people are starting to get the ls1 is god bandwagon attitude and its pretty annoying even to other ls1 guys around...

best of both worlds...get the iron ls1 from a truck stroked with some forged aftermarket internals, put ported ls1 aluminum heads on it, lower compression and boost like a *****...

I've worked on both, both are good engines, I wouldn't take anything but these two, they have their advantages/disadvantes, one of the disadvantages of an LS1 is the valve train, you don't set the rockers at 0 lash but just torque them, sure its ok for stock cam, but you go huge cam & its not that great anymore, things like that, than there are things like no optispark etc.. I can go on for days, both are great IMHO.
