LS1 Plastic Gas tank.

Does anyone know if the later LS1 gas tanks are a direct bolt in to the LT1 cars?

Technicaly should be able to fit, its the same car, may need some parts that come with it on that particular car. I cant see the benefit of the swap.

Its my understanding that the plastic tank is quite a bit lighter.

MY buddy has one in his 01, he can change the fuel pump with out droping the axle, his gas gauge is dead on too. Still though, maybe if I got it for free or real cheap.

Re: LS1 Plastic Gas tank.

It appears a bolt in, but I'm still gathering parts. You have to use the stuff in the tank from the LS1 , but the fuel level sender from an LT1 car.

Re: LS1 Plastic Gas tank.

ws sick keep us posted on how the install goes. I have to pull my tank again anyways because I installed or damaged the floater arm. So I might as well put one of these in for the above reasons. I wonder how much jason sells em for I'm going to call and find out. Did they use the same tank in 02 too?

Re: LS1 Plastic Gas tank.

I looked into doing this a while back, but never went through with it because I didn't want to be the guinea pig. Here's a couple of threads with some info.

Re: LS1 Plastic Gas tank.

The plastic tanks are larger (16.8 gal as opposed to 15.5 for the metal tank). The plumbing with the LS1 pump is also different.

I didnt realize it holds more gas, thats good to know, the line sizes look the same as well as the connection (fuel lines) but the wiring looks slightly different. Any splice I do I'm doing outside the tank (and soldering). I'll get back about if the lines are actually the same size or not.

Thanks Shoebox for the info.
