I dynoed my car exactly 1 year ago and it made 371rwhp at 6300rpm. I dynoed it last week and it made 367rwhp when he let out at 6000rpm. It was still climbing, not sure why he let out so soon. Had he stayed in it 'till 63-6400, I sure it would have only gotten to 371-374rwhp.
Only changes since last dyno were LS1 lid conversion w/ SLP lid and K/N, and 58mm TB. I also cut out the lower airbox to get more flow from underneath.
Previous was LPE CAI w/ 9" K/N and 52mm TB.

I felt absolutely no SOTP difference, only did this mod because I went to the LS1 front end. I don't feel this is a worthwhile power mod at my level, but it sure looks nice.

Bringing this thread back up. I've been considering on doing this conversion. I'll be using an 85mm MAF, what do I do about the wiring to the MAF? What do I have to change, far as wiring goes? Will the LS1 lid have a spot for the IAT sensor as well?

SLP makes a MAF with a conversion pigtail for the wiring. Yes the LS1 lid has a spot for the IAT.

The one thing that I don't quite understand is where does the filter actually mount in? Does it just sit there? Is there anything that directs air to the filter to give it a ram air effect or does the actual gain come from taking the bends out of the system?

I noticed that some in the pics have aftermarket hoods. If getting an aftermarket hood, why not just get a ram-air hood and the ram-air box from SLP to get cool air in. Looks to me like the LS1 lid with no air intake from above the nose like an LS1 on the front that you will end up with warmed air from over the radiator, but regardless, no cooler than a CAI.

Re: LS1 lid conversion

Here's mine: I also have an ls1 front end conversion: For the couplers I used (2) fernco 3"x3" fittings. I cut one in half for the lid to maf, and for the maf to tb I strected it around the oval shapped opening. You will not be able to get away with just one like the ls1 because it will not be long enough.

For anyone else thinking of doing this, avoid Lowe's American Valve brand plastic coupler - it will warp after a day, put a damper on the air flow and its a little pricier than the Fernco:
