It's worked for me, on a Naturally Aspirated 383. I'll tell you how it goes on a shot of spray next week.

Simply do a "search" on "LTCC" and you will find that it has been discussed frequently over the past two years, and is a quality product. The designer, Bob Bailey, knows what he's doing.

Just curious.... what in that ad leads you to use the term "rip off"? Seems like a very negative approach.

Seems to me, he's only asking if this product is worth the money.? He uses the phrase a little loosly for my taste but hey that's what makes us different.

However, this product seems to work in the manner as the Delteq (spelling) and you still have to buy the coils, the wires and find a way to mount it, yourself. So I think he is asking a legitimate question if he is doing so based on value. Once you spend $400.00 you still have much more to buy.

Is it worth it? Perhaps someone having switched to a similar system can answer that. Myself, I don't think any of these systems are worth the initial outlay, since I understand the workings and the flaws of the opti. But I do not race and there in lies the rub. Perhaps racers see a better value than I.

One last point. These systems still use the low voltage side of the opti. What happens if that portion of the opti goes out after you have one of these systems??? Seems to me you put out $400.00 PLUS what ever amount, and now still have to buy an opti.

Am I looking at this the wrong way? Just had to ask.

99.9% of opti failures are the high voltage cap/rotor. The optical side usually doesn't fail unless something comes loose or you submerge it in lots of water.

As far as the product being worth it... I'd say yes. I have one and for some of the features it has it's definately worth it. Built in rev limiter, spark retard, 2 step. How much would you pay for different boxes to do all that?

Now is it worth it for someone who just drives around on the street without the benefit of nitrous or a supercharger? Probably not since you can buy a delteq that comes with everything needed for plug and play operation.

The LTCC is just a box and a harness with some vague instructions. You will need to provide 8 coils, plug wires, mounting brackets for the coils (MBA is out of business so you can't buy those brackets that are pictured anymore), and a new ignition fuse.

Re: ls1 coil conversion?

I've been running a setup that uses the Opti optical sensor, an aftermarket ECU with 8-channel driver, and 8 LS1 style coils for over 5 years. Its a potent ignition. Buddy of mine had the setup 2 years before I did, and used it to support a blown 383 that eventually made 1,125 (flywheel) HP and routinely turned 8,000rpm. Our experience seems to confirm the belief that getting the high voltage function out of the Opti eliminates a lot of the problems.

Speedy:

Thanks for your explanation of why my question about being negative was somehow out of line. To me "rip off" implies fraud. Your argument deals with value for money. I'd ask that in the form of "is it worth it?" And, I asked the original poster for his reasons... not yours. But thanks for the critique.
