LS1 air lid on LT1

Hi,
I want to put a ls1 intake with a MTI lid onto my 1997 Trans Am lt1. I have the stock ram air hood so I think it will fit. I know this has been done, but I can not find much info on it. It would be great If someone can explain what mods I need to do to install this set up on my car. Thanks

Why don't you just use a LT1 Ram-Air box instead? It's essentialy the same thing; and then you can take advantage of the Hood.

I have the hood but I don't have the ram air box, and it has been hard to find that box at a low price. I can get a ls1 setup for under $200.

the standard ls1 radiator support/airbox will fit with the lid on it under a ram air lid without much modding, now, if you get a ws6 rad support/airbox you have some trimming to do to make it fit, but it is well worth it. I picked up 2 tenths and 3 mph, on street tires in the 1/4 over my moroso cai, also i had A LOT more wheel spin with the lid set up when I ran too.

I ended up picking up a air box from a 2000 z28. I think I will notice a good difference over my lt1 camaro ss intake that was previously on this motor in my camaro. I am going with the MTI lid because it looks cool.
