Low voltage scan?? Need help
Low voltage scan?? Need help
Quick history. New 383, 58mm T/B, H/C, bolt ons. I am having a hard time with:
Hot restart
Idle with A/C turned on
I have about 35 miles on new engine plus idle time in the driveway. PCM has been reprogrammed to accomodate the new engine.
Biggest concern now is a scanned voltage of 10 volts on my laptop (datamaster software). Volt meter at the battery shows good (13+ volts at idle, 12 with engine off).
Anyone have any ideas? I VERY new to using a computer to talk to my car.
Any help would be great! Thanks.

When idle speed is correct, the voltage at the battery while idling should be around 14 volts. Lower is a problem.
Check the ground strap from frame to engine and all connections at the junctions on the passenger fender. Don't just wiggle them, pull them and clean them and the junction and retighten.
Use a volt meter to confirm voltage at the PCM by measuring the 4 connection points.
They are on the Blue and Black PCM connectors. The Black connector has 3 pins with 12 volts. Pin 30 has a pink wire. Pins 15 and 31 have Orange wires.
The Blue PCM connector has a pink wire on pin 3.
There is also connectors between the fuse and the PCM to check if the voltage is low at the PCM. One is a blue 10 pin connector behind the right hand kick panel. It has the 2 pink wires in it. The other is a black 4 pin connector located behind the same kick panel and it has the 2 orange wires in it.
Any time the PCM sees a signal that looks strange, try to confirm with another method.
