Yes, you put the springs in, then the brushes, hold them in with the pin, then once the alternator is assembled, you pull the pin from outside the alternator and you will hear the brushes snap into place.

I'm just surprised to see this piece snapped the way that it did. I wonder if that was from dropping the power wire.

btw, I replaced the brush holder last night and it's like new again.

Couldn't believe a reman'd alt is 175 bucks. An alternator for my Conquest was like $45. Kinda crappy since the most expensive part inside the alternator is like 30 bucks. Lucky for me, this part was only $18.
