low rpm/ high torque stroker

You maybe dissapointed by the inticing subject but Im just wondering with all the talk of high rpm high horsepower buildups has anyone ever bothered to do a lower rpm more torque based buildup... I personally dont have the money for expensive heads and an all out high rpm buildup and would like somethign more powerful that has to pass emissions adn keep thepower in the lower rpms so it would be more everyday friendly and reliable. Maybe im wrong but seems to me a setup like this could be done for much less money and I can make up for the slightly lower top end power with the nitrous system I have, if I even felt the need to. Eh just curious what kind of setup anyone has or suggests, I have a couple on my mind but would just like some extra input.

If you want a stump puller, you get a small cam. And since you won't be revving the motor to past 5,500, you don't need expensive parts to hold it together.

Ok I got more of a specific question now, even though something like this would not need incredible flowing heads but would stock ones do or would there need to be some porting, I figure atleast oversized valves. Thought I saw somewhere that fully ported lt1 castings are about 185cc from 170cc adn flow much better than the 190cc lt4 heads... seems like the ported lt1 castings are just much more efficient and would maintain the low end torque and would have higher port velocity than the lesser flowing lt4's... not that I plan to use lt4's but just wondering mainly if porting the heads would increase power all around, or even though the ports are still somewhat small would it only work best with an engine that sees higher rpm and more airtflow. Would like to keep it as inexpensive as possible but dont want to half *** anything too much if the stock lt1s with larger valves would work.

Ok, it seems you are concerned over heads. It is my understand you can gain power ACROSS the board (read - no torque loss) with properly ported heads. LT4 heads seem to have more advantage with the taller roof and light weight valves, but when you go *****-to-the-walls, I think they have just about equal potential. I do not think it is worth it to go LT4. I also don't think AFR is worth the money either.

You should talk to Trey as he has a 383 with stock heads. He whines about it all the time.

Ive talked to him a little bit, seems like the way to go for him till he has the money to do it right, his cam is also for higher rpms since it is rather large so I imagine the stock heads are hurting power more than just a little especially since the motor is larger too. Also out of curiosity ive heard a couple sources mention putting an LPE super ram intake on the lt1, I thought it was for the l98 but if it woudl work on the lt1 it seems like it would be better than the stock very short runner lt1 intake as far as low end....
