low oil sensor

So in process of getting oil pan and want to know if its needed to have the low oil level sensor or if it can be left unhooked or tuned out or what. Also ive read champ pans are good buy for the money and looking at the cp60ltrb and its about 175 plus the pick up.

You can just unhook it and tie the wires out of the way...

Re: low oil sensor

You will have to connect the two wires together if you want the light to be off. It can't be tuned out, because it does not communicate with the PCM.

I can't believe I'm asking this, but are you sure, Rob? The sensor works by making a connection as the float drops.....it would seem that leaving it open would keep the light off....

Re: low oil sensor

if you tie the two wires together the light will remain off.

I believe it turns the light on when there is any electrical resistance so if the wires are touching there is basically zero resistance and no light.

Ive had mine like that for a good 5-6 months now, just remember to check your oil

Yes, I am sure. The sensor contacts are normally closed, open with low oil level. So, when you unplug it, the normally closed circuit is open. Result is the low oil lamp.
