Low oil senser

Has any one removed the oil senser?? Mine broke and I believe it recked the motor. I am wondering if the senser can be removed and if the computer can be programmed around it or is there another way???

You can put a wrench on it (if you're careful not to break the new one) or they make a special socket for it. DO NOT remove it completely....you NEED to know when ur oil pressure is low.

low oil sensor != oil pressure sender

you can remove the low oil sensor and put a plug in there, and mate the 2 wires together some how, paper clip, cut and solder, whatever, but i believe for the light to be off the circuit must be complete. ASK SHOEBOX for a for sure answer though.

yea you can remove it. basically if u look at the two wires going INTO the sensor, well they actually go into a CONNECTOR that PLUGS into the sensor! its a bish to remove cause the connector goes INSIDE the sensor but what i do is take a very small and i mean small flat head screwdriver and stick it in there and pry upward on the connector then pull it out of the sensor! then what you do is take a resistor and do just like the skip shift bypass and that will make it so the light doesnt come on!

so your sensor broke? i would take the sensor OUT and make sure it didnt BREAK BREAK! like make sure the plastic on the sensor didnt break off and is now sitting in your oil pan that happened to mine and i had to pull my pan off and remove all the broken plastic pieces that were stuck up in the oil pickup!

im waiting for my new sensor to get here as i dont plan to bypass mine since its the oil way of knowing if my oil is low since i have my dipstick removed cause it doesnt fit with my splayed main caps!

personally i wouldnt bypass it since ours cars tend to burn oil and if u dont keep up on checkin the dipstick you could risk burning oil past where you would want to and then well you can decide from there

I only remember one connector going into my block. If this is something separate where is it?
