Low oil pressure?

Is this oil pressure normal for an LT1 at idle? It seems so low to me. I just want to make sure this is nothing to be concerned about, or is it?

Stock oil pressure is 6psi @ 1k rpm's. Yours looks like your oil pressure is fine.

Search here for the stock oil cooler and decide if it's worth your time to change it or not.

Your oil pressure looks exactly like mine. Very normal at hot idle...

Edit: Just noticed that you're at 1k RPM... Mine idles at around 650 RPM... My pressure is higher at 1k RPM..

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info, I was just wondering what the oil cooler would have to do with the pressure being low? I guess i'm kinda getting mixed answers here so I think I will just take my chances and not worry about it for now. It has been like this since I bought the car with 24,000 miles, it now has 64,500 on it right now. So if something was to go wrong I guess it would have done so by now. I have never had any problems with the engine what so ever, and I have had many track passes along with many, many street runs.Lets just put it this way I have put the car through hell and back with no problems at all. Also yes the gauge does shoot up to 40 at normal cruising speeds. So I guess it's nothing to be to concerned about, considering I have heard from most people that it is normal.

The oil cooler is notorious for getting clogged and being restrictive. That being said, since you have an automatic, I'm not sure that you have one... I may be wrong, but for some reason I think they only put them on the manual transmission cars...

I wouldn't worry about your oil pressure. If you are worried, you can get a pressure gauge and verify that your dash gauge is giving you the correct indication.

Your pressure doesn't look that low. The "rule of thumb" for a SBC is 5psi per 1krpm...
