Well my 94 LT1 Caprice has a low oil pressure problem. Im guessing this is probably a common problem among high mileage LT1s. Any idea? I think I need a new oil pump, but i may be wrong. Suggestions? How much does one usually run?

about 40-60 for a cheap one and up to 120 for blueprinted

 

How low are you talking? The owners manual says that it is suppose to be around 6@1000 rpms. At least mine is around 8-10 at idle and I have had no problems with it for 3 years now that way.

 

Its pretty low, I just changed thne oil on it and still the thing barely reads above the red zone at idle and doesnt even make it to the half at WOT. It should be at half at idle and near three quarters at WOT.

Do you guys think there could be a motor problem?
