Low Oil Light....Oil A Tad Low...
Low Oil Light....Oil A Tad Low...
I'm probably over-reacting but I just want to make sure....just got the low oil level light and checked my oil, kinda low, about half way from where it should be. Have had no problems, except a little timing retard from some exhaust vibration that was fixed about 300 miles ago.
Motor was rebuilt about 4,000 miles ago. Stock ported heads, stock or very close to stock comp ratio. I'm on my first run of synthetic oil, after running regular for about 2k miles. I run Royal Purple, I think the viscosity I use is 5W40. I'm about 1,000 miles from my set oil change time of 3,000. It's a daily driver but I drive it HARD as **** 80% of the time.
Should I be worried or is this normal on a hard-driven car? I'm concerned because the motor was just rebuilt and I've paid off only about 5% of the motor.
I'll check the plugs this weekend, but what should they look like if the oil is burning up, lots of deposits on the plugs?

oil light shouldnt come on till your nearly in danger or have already messed up the motor. the sensor sits closer to the "only a quart or 2 remaining" area of the oil pan.
2,000 miles and only burned half a quart... thats damn good espically when you drive it hard.
