How about a plug to remove it and plug up the hole?
What size are the threads? I took the sensor up to my local hardware store but they didn't have anything that big. It was fine metric thread is all I can tell, maybe M18 1.5 or so??

If you remove it, just connect the 2 wires together to keep the light from flashing.
