Low idle after comming to a stop

finally got my car out on the road again from storage and its acting strange, just like before i put it in.

When I come to a stop and let out on the gas and push in the clutch, my RPMs drop down to around 500-600, car kinda of sputters and acts like its going to stall but then revs back up to around 1000 and idles fine.

Anyone know why it does this? Is it a tuning issue?

Is pretty annoying, im always sure its going to die.

Anyone who can shed some light would be much appreciated.

Check IAC for gunk or EGR for damaged diaphram.

Re: Low idle after comming to a stop

I'm not too sure that I'd call that a low idle myself. My car idles fine at 550 rpm in gear. But like Zjoker said I would check the IAC. If you have a repair manual it will tell you how to test it.

Re: Low idle after comming to a stop

mine does the EXACT same thing...notice we are all head/cammd cars.
it really sucks because if i turn my wheel while coming to a stop it will drop to really low oil pressure. so i gotta brake with my left foot and give her throttle with my right...while its in nuetral (6 speed)

Yeah, i know what you mean about turning, like to pull into a parking spot. Mine will actually completely stall sometimes.

A friend of mines h/c car has the same issues...

Ive been searching for the last hour or so. One thing I am going to check is the EGR valve, i guess that could be a possible culprit.

Next step would be to drill out the IAC hole a little bit to see if it helps.

Its strange though, mine wont do it all the time. Sometimes it will run fine.

Pull the valve covers and see if you have a cracked or broken spring. My car was missing, but acting very similar with the idle and oil pressure. I had a broken valve spring. Not sure if it fixed it yet as I pulled the motor to see if there was any more damage. There wasn't, but it got rebuilt.

Re: Low idle after comming to a stop

I know for a fact i dont have any broken valve springs.

When i get home in about an hour im gunna pull the TB and drill out the IAC hole a little bit bigger. Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Re: Low idle after comming to a stop

When I took the TB off and then pulled the IAC out i noticed that the gasket for the lower coolant plate was wrinkled and half blocking the IAC passage. I replaced the gasket and no more idle problem! So it appears i found the cure for my problem.

Now onto the next one of passing emission next month.

Re: Low idle after comming to a stop

I have this problem as well. Its only in the mornings or when i first start my car after its been sitting for a while. It'll idle low and then come back up. As soon as I put it in gear it will idle down slowly then die. I have a coil that leaks a lot of spark. I replaced my msd coil with a used stock one and still does the same thing. Does anyone think this could be the problem?

That sounds like an IAC problem to me but there are many other possibilities
