low engine coolant
low engine coolant
i need help, my low engine coolant stays on. i recently drained and changed the coolant along with the coolant sensor located on the water pump. what should i do???
The low coolant sensor isn't on the waterpump, its right next to the battery about 3 inches below the radiator fluid cap. Just unplug the sensor to get rid of the light, I have had mine unplugged for 2 years now, no problem. Just check your fluid every week. You can buy a new sensor, but I wouldn't worry about it.

my 94 z also has a problem with the low coolent light. i will have to try and see if unplugging it will shut it off. i am just wondering if this is a common problem for this year. or just for the f-body in general.
I had my low coolant light come on and topped off my radiator and it was still on. Checked the level in the overflow and it was low, topped it off, turned off the car and then turned it back on. No light and no problems since.
Despite popular belief, you don't have to leave the sensor out, or replace it either.
Once you have it out, clean it. Most likely it will be so disgustingly dirty that it can't read the fluid.
Clean it pretty well and put it back in.
Start the car, light should be gone.
