Yep, wouldn't have gone any other route, now thats its done with. I've changed my setup a couple of times, from duals with X pipe to-- duals without X and dual cats, now with pretty quiet mufflers. I had to try different ones to find the exact sound which I liked, and of course I went from real loud-no mufflers just X after colectors into nothing-to very quiet turbo mufflers. The sound of the exhaust will be detirmined by the type of muffler used, so for me I started with the cheapest ones and worked my way up, and of course listened to other cars. I really liked loud, but I like hearing the stereo better so I added the cututs so I could have both tones when I want them. Speedbumps scrape if I drive fast over them but so did the stock exhaust, so I must go slow over them, otherwise I have no complaints. I loved the way the x and freeflowing mufflers sounded, very mean racecar sounding, everyone notices, not to bad at idle, but at wide open throttle sounds like someone hi horse car at the track. As for power There was a big difference, although I did the longtubes at the same time, so It was a night and day difference doing all the exhaust at once. My exhaust like most true duals stop at the rear axle, I would have gone over to the bumper, but it adds more weight and makes it more restrictive., I don't have a problem with fumes at all, even if the top is down, although with a cam and no cats it would be noticable. I went with cats cause I wanted to be legal and show horspower-musclecar haters that you can have power and still be clean, plus I like the smell much better. If you do an X I would just skip using cats, cause its to much of a pain and not a whole lot of room with the x. The sound is not poppy like most catbacks, more like an old musclecar, with flowmaster mufflers it would sound like a nice mustang. When I hear cars drive by with certain catbacks it makes me cringe, cause some sound so bad, the borla sounds pretty good, but is very pricey.

well I went with two cutouts right after the header collector, this way I just uncap at the track and maintain both worlds. From a couple dynos posted on here it seems that true duals gain more power over aftermarket catbacks, and with two cutouts you are really going to get some good results

Difference in power, none. Open LT's were so loud, it'd dial in a ton of false timing retard even though I had the LT4KM in. True duals still dials in some, but only like 1 degree instead of 6. I ran em both at the track, came up with the same MPH and ET.

i want my setup tobe at its loudest . . .what mufflers should i go with bullits??if so what lenght??/or will it be louder with just pipeing instead ofmufflers with juss turn down??what should i go with . . my pipeing is going to be 3 in .. replys will be greatly appreciated . . .
If you want loud I'd get a cutout on your stock exhaust system. After a while you'll probalby get tired of it being so damn loud all the time and get yourself a hooker catback.
(five days until mine comes

While we are on the subject of duals and cutouts. How loud are most dual setups with LTs and bullets compared to a completely stock exhaust with a cutout? I have just a cutout now and my current plans include a hooker catback and LTs, but if the duals arent as loud as my cutout is now, i might consider it. The cutout is too loud for me to want it open ALL the time.
Thats interesting that you got retard timing with cutouts open and LT4 KM, I heard a few people say that they were getting 1-2 degrees out with open headers, but thats it. I wish I had a laptop to hook up to see for myself, I know that I have run quicker times with them open, and they are right after the collector, of course I can't say for sure cause my 60 ft times are to inconsistant once I can afford one of those 12 bolts
I'll see for sure.
Amped my true duals are almost as quiet as stock, I could even make them quieter, plus I have a cam, which amplified it a good amount. THe muffler you choose will dictate how loud it is and what type of sound it has, for instace a hollow body muffler like a flowmaster is going to drone more and be pretty loud, same as a bullit, they are very loud. A packed mufler will be quieter, that is what I have now, which allows me to hear the radio and still have a mild roar at full throttle. With my old cherry bombs which are like the bullets they were pretty loud at idle and very loud at full throttle, and also droned very much especially at cruising rpm 16-2000, after that rpm they were pretty good, but I had to crank up the radio very very loud to get rid of the drone, and even then it was competing with my 10 inch sub, with my current mufflers (small turbo thrush mufflers) I can barely hear it at cruise, in fact I think there is more noise coming from the engine and trans. So I'm going to insulate the cabin to rid of some of that, but I am very satisfied. I originally liked very loud, but it gets old, and now love hte quiet stealth, although not many people turn their heads anymore at stoplights
So you can have true duals with any sound level you want
Sidewaz, sounds like you will love the bullets, they are very very loud, but still have good manors, cause if you keep off the gas they are reaonably quiet, at least enough where cops won't pull you over-at least hopefully they won't. I wouldn't go without mufflers as this is way to loud, I drove mine without them and it was great at full throttle, but you have to feather the gas the rest of the time to keep it down. I rolled past many cops including stop signs, and never got pulled over, but I think the wrong cop might pull you over. You could always tell the exhaust shop that you want to drive it without mufflers to see how it sounds and then come back after a few days and have mufflers put on if your not satisfied, heck you could even put mufflers on yourself, just buy some clamps and two hangers which hang by one screw drilled through the floorpan of the rear seats, after the pipes start to rust they will seal the mufflers together to the pipes. This way you can see how you like it without them. I'm sure there is no shop that will have a problem with this if you decide to bring it back for muffler installation
