low coolant light
low coolant light
After removal of oil cooler,i topped off the rad and bleed the system, now i have a low coolant light,it does not run hot at all,at idle with the cap off the level is good. This is the first time the light has ever come on,could the sensor just go all of a sudden?Could there still be air in the system,if so wouldnt it run hot or over heat? Thanks Rob
Re: low coolant light
It could be a bad sensor or maybe not. I'm not trying to scare you but just keep a really close eye on your coolant and tempature guage until you get the problem fixed. My low coolant light came on one day so i checked the coolant and it was fine. Then my check guages light came on as i was driving somewhere and my tempature was in the red. By the time i pulled over to the turn the engine off it started cooling down. So I continued to drive it thinking my tempature guage messed up. Anyway to make a story short my car started overheating randomly every now and then and it did so very fast. I checked the coolant again and it was a little lower so i refilled it and bleed it. (It had dropped some after overheating). Ended up replacing thermastat and it stopped but now i'm losing coolant like crazy and can't find the leak
Your case is probably not even similar to mine but i'm just letting you know you need to watch it till it's fixed.

Re: low coolant light
It's not unusual for the sensor to act up. Watch it for a while. If it does not improve, replace it. Another alternative is to just unplug it and never worry about it again. You can make the call on that one.
Re: low coolant light
is the light on all the time or just random? once it comes on, itll stay on. but does it come on every time you start the car as soon as you start it?
when my sensor was going bad, there was no method to its madness. i could be an hour into a trip or 5 minutes and it would come on.
best way to figure out is change the sensor or you can just unplug it as shoebox stated.

Re: low coolant light
I'm having the same issue, coolant light is on but no problems with level and such.
-Coolant level is fine
-Overflow Resivior shows ok levels
-Heater blows hot air (meaning coolant is flowing to the back of the motor)
-Idle is fine
-No problems overheating
-When squeezing the hoses, its all fluid, no problems with air bubbles
Only issue I see is that when I come to a long stop light, my temp level goes up to about 3/4ths. Perhaps an ECU (sorry for my domestic ignorance, I'm not sure exactly what you call your emmisions control unit is called) reset will get rid of this error, as with one of my Nissans I was getting an ABS light issue until I gave the ECU a bump via disconnected battery.
