Unhappy low on cash, need mods

i raced a modded 89 mustang gt 5.0. he had a lot more money in his car and i roasted them off the line (still learning, and i suck). he only beat me by like a car with my crappy start. he wants to race again. i have about 240 bucks, what can i do to put me infront of him. it hurts to see a mustang infront of me. thanks for the help

Free mods

My 94 runs damb good. 14.1 @ 101mph. Stock 94-95 z-28 run 15.3 in Amarillo at 3630 ft above sea level. Go to f-body.com go to LT1 and ask about free mods. I can give you a little run down.
1-Descreen your Mass Air(takes 5min)
2-Throttle body bypass(plans and pics on f-body.com)
3-Gut you catolic converter(major help, only 9 bolts, easy)
4-Buy 160 thermostat(fan switch also is needed for major help)
cost about 15 for stat and I think 35-40 for fan switch
(DON'T USE THE PLANS OF f-body FOR THIS ONE,mine went up in smoke)
5-Buy MSD 8.5 LT1 plug wires out of SUMMIT racing(only $50, major must stock wires are crap)
6-New spark plugs as well(use your prefrence)
7-EGR mod(get the plans off f-body they have pics.easy use a coke can for the block off plate)
8-AIR pump removal( on 94Z the computer wasn't smart enough to know if the AIR pump was conected or not, leave the relay in and the fuse, just take off the pump disconect the wire to it, tye it to the side, cut the metal hose that goes under the motor, cap the manifols with drane plugs, I think 18mm or 22mm maybe 17mm I for got but I bought them at NAPA for $7.50 (plans on THUNDER AND HERE ASWELL))
9-K&N airfilter (is a must) use with cold air for most improvement
10-Cold air (I bought a Moroso cold air and it helped about .15-.2 tenth in the quarter mile but it cost 168.99 out of SUMMIT(tell them you found it at T Byrne motorsports for 169. they price match) But it cost so much i felt like i got scredd because i made my car alot fast for less with the other free mods, so this one is needed but can wait if tight on cash

Let me know if you need help on these, I promise you wont lose to a stock or slightly moded 5 slow agian!

i have a G2 cold air unit that is off my 96z...it isn't as good as some of the others avialable. but mine is for sale CHEAP!

i'll sell you the G2 cai, including the K&N filter for $50 plus shipping.

many guys say the g2 is the worst cai...but it sure is better than stock...specially for $50

you'll need to use the face from your existing air box...just cut the whole front off...that's how the G2 works...and the front of mine got cracked in an accident...would probably still work, and i'll include it..but it would be better to just use the part off your air box.

realize that the k&n filter alone is $40 new...

also have an airfoil and pullies (including the belt) for sale.
all three parts...$120 plus shipping...let me know.

You might want to read the "Some LT1 myths/misconceptions" thread in the LT1 Tech forum first (it's a long thread but at least read the first page) before you begin your mods.

Sounds like some mods not worthwhile.

As mentioned above.. CAI, 160* Stat, and manual fan switch. Dont waist your money on buying a $50+ kit, make your own, about 2 hrs worth of work and $15 worth of parts from Radio Shack. Its very easy I'll be doing my third this weekend so if you need help let me know or Shoebox is an expert at them.. If you were only a car lenth behind and spun that much, back off a little, he may beet you off the line but you will hunt him down quick. Remember it doesnt matter who is in front at 60' or 1000' its who's in front after a 1/4 mile.

EDIT - You didnt say what you are running but 93 octane is a must!

This web site has been posted before but try it and it will help you out

http://www.xious.com/camaro/install-fanswitch.html

Note, if you don't want the LED's you can delete everything on the right side of the switch in the wiring diagram.

the LPE ligenfelter CAI is that a really good one? it says it has the K & N filter with it and it looks just like the K & N FIPK does it fit just like it or better? (EasY) how long would it take to put it in and does the filter hang open with no covier on it liek the K&N i ahve been thinking bout my next mod to get a cai which is a good choice but im still saving up the money. originally was going to get the K & N FIPK because i havent heard anything but good about it. Now since you guys mentioed it the ligenfelter looks extremely nice and cant beat it for the price 159.95 is there any other place that sells it even cheaper. this is good news i might seriously consider in getting this cai then the K&N FIPK.

Well he probably doesn't have the option for 93 octane. Because he is in cali. Unless he is in a really small town, only 91 octane is available in cali. Atleast around where i live.
