Loud squeak from engine bay when car shifts

I am noticing a loud squeaking noise from the engine bay for a very short period ONLY when the car shifts. It ONLY does it when I am running it hard. Its most noticeable when shifting from 1st to 2nd at full throttle. It sounds very similar to a loose serpentine belt but only does it for a second. What could it be? Should I worry about it and how do I fix it? Thanks guys.

Your serpentine belt is bad . A new one costs like $15
bucks or so

I think a serpentine belt would do it at load. Like if you turned the wheels or something like that. I would guess that maybe it is the engine motor mounts. These rubber mounts wear out over time and could cause some noise when the engine shifts and makes it move a little and make a squek. May need to jack it up and take a look at the mounts. Hope that helps!

Mine does the same thing... Just buy belt dressing and it will go away... No my belt is not bad...

Also check to see if you have any oil leaking on to your pulleys, that will also cause the belt to slip/ squeek...

Serpentine belt is getting older,,, or maybe your tentioner pulley is getting weak. I would try a new belt as it is cheaper and then try a new tentioner. Both are cheap and bot are easy to change.

I wouldn't use belt dressing as it will get all over every pulley and other places making a mess.

Thanks for the help guys. I know its been about 3 years since I changed the belt. Its not cracked any but maybe it is just stretched. Once I check the motor mounts and make sure there is no oil dripping onto any pulley, I'll go with replacing the belt and hope the problem goes away.

same thing happened to me ....my belt was not bad and i never thought about the tensioner.....i was gonna change it over the winter but it doesnt sqeek anymore...so i go out of it "easy" if u wanna say that...it might have been from oil from a leaky intake i had repaired..just somthing to look for

clean ur belts and pullys.....i hear use rubbing alcohol and it should be fine after that...

Belt dressing is a good diagnostic tool to prove it's the belt, but the dressing only lasts about a week. A new belt is about $23. I'm using the Goodyear belt, it has "cross cuts" in it to help the belt last longer.

My belt did it too, i kinda liked the sound so i didn't do anything about it. But had to replace the belt awhile back and it went away.
