The car is that medium quasar blue, so the plug wires go along pretty well.
Yes, those are 1 3/4" Hooker long tubes. They haven't been in the car yet, but things look like they'll be pretty tight. My SLP midlengths almost melted the ABS connector on the passenger side, so I'm going to be sure and wrap both sides with DEI cool tape this time around.
I don't mind pulling the freeze plug out, I just want to make sure it doesn't happen again. There was a little bit of surface rust around the plug, could that be the problem?? It went in solidly like it was going to seal well, I don't get it.

Just pulling your chain about the BLUE thing.
Ye the rust can do it and when ya go back make sure it's square before ya drive it all the way in. Ya could put some Permatex on the edges to help seal it.
Ya might clean it with a power wire brush and get some two part epoxy and seal it all the way around.

That engine looks nice and sounds like you have done your research to make sure everything runs smoothly... let's see some times!
Re: Lots of pictures of pics of my 355 build from start to finish and buildsheet
I'll get some times as soon as I can. This project has drained the finances for now, and I'm going to be on a basically stock transmission (save for B&M transcooler and shiftkit). I'll be on street tires for now, so maybe the transmission will live for a couple thousand miles until I get the money built up to get a rebuild on it. Next season I'll be ready. In addition to the transmission some suspension/chassis work is in the future this winter.

The engine looks very nice. Good luck with it!
[Commentary]I've been on this board since 1969, as you can see, and this is the first thread I've seen with pics posted! About damn time they allowed that here....

Re: Lots of pictures of pics of my 355 build from start to finish and buildsheet
Just FYI, the GMPP rockers work because of the beehive valve springs yield more clearance due to their smaller diameter top. It would not work with standard diameter (non-beehive) springs and that amount of lift.
I am very surprised you had to clearance the block for a stock stroke rod. On my motor buildup, one of the h-beams hit the stock windage tray. Good thing I caught that...
Nice idea with the brass fittings on the back of the heads. Thought it was a special thread, guess I was wrong.

Thanks for the FYI on the roller rockers, I was wondering what the deal was.
Apparently the Eagle H-beams are a bit larger in the cap bolt section than most other rods out there. It definitely did not clear the windage tray at all, which is why I bought the Canton pan. It has an integrated windage tray/scraper so I didn't have to fool with making something else work.
I'm guessing the brass fitting that I used is just a standard 1/2" pipe thread. It did go in pretty tight, but it went in straight.
