I have the same problem right now. it jsut shifted down to 2nd right? and in 2nd when you take off or does it go from 1st to second? one menas it is the 1-2 shift and the othe menas it is the 2-3 shift silonoid...either way one of the shift silonoids went bad. they are right inside once you take the pan off....so don't need a complete rebuild.....jsut 1 or 2 little electronic parts!!

Been there done that. I have destroyed my 4L60E lets see oh too many times to count. From what you are describing you lost the 3/4 clutch pack. Very common problem with our A4's. The tranny will have to be rebuilt but ask for Coleyne steel clutches and in my opinion the Raybestest blue clutch packs work very well. After my last rebuild in my Impala I have made over 200 passes at the track and the tranny is still ticking. Just reasontly took the pan down for a sevice and found no signs of problems I just screwed myself by saying that but the car is still moving at this time and ready to go back to the track with just installed 4.10'sand 125 shotof juice. We will see what happens from there. Good luck!
