Looking for information on my Z28
Looking for information on my Z28
Hey everyone, I'm new to the boards. I don't know if I'm posting in the right area, but I couldn't really find one that suited my question. I just bought a 96' Z28 and I'd like to know where I can find out more information about my specific car. Maybe there's some place that I can go to type in my VIN and it will tell me all about my car? Things like rear end gear ratio, factory security system, etc.
Any info. is appreciated. Thanks

You have got to the right place and if you look in the bottom right hand cornor there is a search button for all your needs. If your car is an auto car it more than likely has 3.23 gears, possibly 2.73's. If it is a 6 speed it will have 3.42. For all your other info you can either search this board or your local chevy dealership will be able to help you out with your detailed questions.
The RPO code sticker will tell you what your car was equipped with from the factory. It's either in the glovebox or on the driver side door. You should be able to find most or all the codes on the internet.
maybe this will help a little?

Welcome to the board. This place is the Shieet, which you will soon find out. I built a whole engine because of this place.
. The guys here are great and knowledgable. See that guy with the 57 (I think) Chevy front end....Shoebox. You'll learn to apreciate him.

If you're looking for hard copy documentation on your Z, I can point you in the right direction.
There's a historical services package that GM Canada does on every car built in Canada, including the 4th Gen. F-Body. It's official documents that list all your RPO codes, defines them, and gives you other specific info about your car, like in service date, original selling dealer, paint codes, etc., etc. Something well worth doing. Here's a link...

If you know someone at a GM dealership, they, too, can pull up almost the same thing, but it should also include any warranty and service work. Anything that could be documented through computer, basically.
