Looking for Good Repair Shop in Aurora/Naperville Illinois Area
I'm looking for a good repair shop in the Aurora/Naperville Illinois area. It snowed a bit yesterday, and I was trying to limp my 96 SS home from work and did something unpleasant to the engine . It backfired a couple times and then died on me. The car kept getting stuck in the slush, so I was having to rock it out a bunch while struggling through an ungodly amount of traffic, shifting it from reverse to 1 and back again. Now it acts like it wants to turnover, but struggles and then dies after about 5 seconds. I'm no mechanic, so if anyone has any ideas as to what might be wrong, I'd appreciate the advice. So far I've heard that I may have fouled the plugs, or that maybe the timing belt broke. Any way you cut it it looks like I'm going to be out a good junk of change gettin' her fixed , because nothing you do on the LT1 is easy or cheap. If the engine has to be rebuilt I'm thinking about putting a cam in , depending on how much needs to be done. Any advice or helpful thoughts would be most appreciated. Thanks everyone.

You could try A&G automotive near Normantown road. I dont have the number offhand but I can try to get it tomorrow. Do you ever drive on RT 59 near north aurora, I saw a guy in a Black 96 SS on the way to work one day, thought maybe it was you.

Thanks for the info guys, I had the car towed to Ollie's Garage in Batavia this morning. They had done good work for me before on my IROC, so I figured they'll probably be able to do a nice job. Mark, that probably was me you saw last week, my SS is black and I take rt 59 to work every day. I miss my SS.

winter tires?
sorry to hear you had engine or trans damage, but if your like me, i use my car a daily driver here ( bloomingdal ill). the best thing you can do is change your tires for the winter months, the bridgestone blizaca are awesome tires for
the camera, firebird and mustang.........you won't be leave the traction you get with them.
