They are probably not gonna take their time to answer this because they are being nice. The difference between forged and non forged isn't that great nowadays and you can get a fully forged setup prebalanced ready to bolt in at your doorstep for under $1500. Non forged setups run @ $900 plus an addtional $200 for balancing, there are a few that come balanced for about a grand but do your homeowrk and save just a hair more and do yourself a favor and go forged, especially with FI.

get a forged piston no matter what. Check out summit racing, they have good prices.

Or call Eric at Victory racing engines. See if he can get you a budget setup.

Summit was roughly $75 over (before the crazy handling fee's) what VRE had my pistons for. I always check other places before summit.

Everything i have bought from them has been priced very well. I guess that doesnt stay the same with a rotating assemblies. Sorry for the bad advice.

If you goto Ls1tech.com they have all their vendors on a sidebar menu with links to their sites. Go through all of them and check for prices. You surely will find lots then. This will be time consuming tho. Good luck.

Part for part, I found it cheaper to have a local shop build using parts you order online.
However, there is a whole lot of aggravation that goes along with doing it that way and
dealing with people if something ever goes wrong. The warranties offered by some of the
better known shops are almost worth the price difference.

Having said that.

Cheap, Reliable, Fast .... pick two.

As for 7# of boost, you should be able to do that on a stock bottom end if it's in good shape.
Forged pistons would be nice, but I don't see that as being a must-have.
The real reason to build a custom bottom end would be to lower compression or handle more cylinder pressure.

I will be the first to tell you: For most connecting rods for a 383 you will need to get your block clearanced. This can cost a good bit, and takes a decent shop to be able to do. Not only that, then you will want the 4 bolt main with splayed caps, this also costs a good bit if done correctly.

This is just the beginning... I bought all my stuff used, and am very happy. I do need new pistons though one day.

I believe we are fairly competitive in pricing. If I have done you wrong, I am very sorry.
