looking for best hp gain add ons

I want to get my hp up on my stock 97 ss for now until I can do major engine mods. Was wondering what are the best parts to get high horsepower gains without major overhaul. Looking to get new heads and cam maybe headers. Just looking for some input

The best bang for the buck mod without doing a major overhaul would be nitrous. Before you do anything though, I would cover the basics and start doing some basic bolt-ons, cold-air intake, headers, catback, ect.

well it has the ss hood which is functional as you know so I thought that is a pretty good cai. The exhuast on the car is 3" already but the only real thing i could see changing is the headers. Plus if you run N20 dont you have to keep checking your spark plugs because they can foil easily? and what other maintance is there with running N20

Seems from your times you have some kind of factory freak. You sure there isnt an LT4 in there? Headers/ORY gave me about 3 tenths in 1/8th. Tuning gave about another tenth or 2. What was your 60ft?

Sorry, I overlooked the fact that you have an SS. Scratch the cold air intake off the list. As for the nitrous, there is no real maintenance to it, but it is recommended that you use copper conductor, one-step colder plugs.

? You asked for what to do to get your power up----until you do some "major" work. Then you say that you are looking to do heads, cam and headers. If you are NOT including the heads, cam and headers as "major" work, then the answer to the question as to what to do to get the power up is ---heads, cam and headers. But if you are including heads, cams and headers as the "major" work, then the only way you are going to get high power increases is boost and/or juice. If you are looking for a way to improve your ets and mph, reduce the weight by 300+lbs. JMHO

If you keep the boost at a safe level, you should be fine with a supercharger. Its all going to come down to how much you want to spend and where your goals are at.

go with the simple bolt-ons at first and see how you like it then.

headers, y pipe, and catback
tune from pcmforless or madz28
1.6 rockers (get nsa, as you might want more power later)
lt4 knock module
a good tune up.

then if you want more, sounds like you would like a supercharger more than a heads/cam packge. they are easier to install, and they sound cool
