Looking for the Best Collector Gaskets for LT1
My driver's side SLP header's flange is a bit warped, and leaked the 1st time I installed it. I tried straightening the flange out as best I could, and installed a standard Autozone special gasket ... it leaked right at startup.
I then purchsed some felpro, cut your own, gasket material and made my own. I sandwiched this to the Autozone piece with copper RTV and it sealed it up for 5-6 days; after which, it started leaking again. When I took it back apart, the felpro material had burned straight through. It obviously wasn't meant for exhaust.
I then got a felpro LT1 driver's flange gasket, sandwiched this to the autozone gasket with copper RTV and installed. This seemed to fix the leak and it's been great for about 2 weeks. Well, it's starting to tick again, and I'm sure over time will get worse.
I've read great things about Percy's dead soft gaskets, but I don't think they make one for the stock driver's side flange. Can anyone recommend a good, thick, stock shaped, driver's side flange gasket?
Thanks,
Thomas.
