thats crazy! i know that doesnt help much but thats all I got after seeing a hole like that.
I bet you find more of those blue valve seal pieces the more you dig.
have you run the motor with the covers off? does anything blow out of the hole?
nice pix

it is the valves stem seals. my car did something very similar.. i had those style seals with crane 10308 springs and it ate them up. i replaced them with stock replacement fel pros. its a pain in the *** to do with the engine in the car.

Ok I'm working on pulling the Intake Manifold off now, I've got the intake, elbow , tb , throttle cables off. So far I've noticed that the throttle body I just pulled and polished a couple months ago is in the same shape it was before, I'm definately gonna be doing a tb bypass when i put it all back together. So what do I need to do to pull off the intake manifold, I see alot of crap hooked up in the back and I just wanna make sure I dont screw anything up. Whats the next step.

also not to be mean, but if you've never pulled off an intake from a newer V8, I wouldnt recommend starting by yourself. get a friend, and a hayne's, a bunch of plastic cups, and take pics when u remove something. everything goes back how it did when u removed it, the shop manual will be a GREAT help.
Also see more blue valve stem seals down there.
