Look what I found in my Oil Pan!!

http://xs40.xs.to/pics/05315/MetalinOilPan2.jpg

After going to start the car 2 months ago and hearing/feeling a clunck near the bottom of the engine, replacing the Opti, replacing my lifters (3 were cracked), finding a hole in my Oil Pan (cracked from the inside out), finding a severly bent push rod on #6 cylinder(the one closest to the rear of the engine) and having a bad clack on that valve , I was all set to pull the head, when I decided to drain the oil and check it out with a magnet and thats what I found. I was thinking it was a spun bearing, but someone else said it looked like pieces of a piston (sorry for the pic quality).

Yeah, pretty bad quality...does look piston-ish, though.

iS it a ferrous metal? If its aluminum it's more than likely piston skirt.

If a magnet sticks to it it's no telling.

If the pieces are magnetic then most likely gear parts, from oil pump drive gear to cam or timing chain sprocket gear to water pump gear. Good luck, I predict a rebuild is in your future!
