Longtube Situation..

Well looking at getting some longtubes from pacesetter and as some of you have read I have a few years mixing when it comes to my motor/ecu.

So now I have a 94 M6 PCM, a 1997 Engine, Non-1997 timing chain cover, vented optispark, Auto Tranny and what I would assume is a 94 Engine Harness.

My question is which year longtubes would I order? and if I want to keep emissions?

Thanks,
Mike

Whether or not you want to keep emissions is entirely up to you and where you live. If you have to pass inspection, it might be a good idea to keep them, but if you don't want emissions, then you can get these headers and it wont matter what year your car is.

On the other hand, if you want to keep emissions, then I could pull an answer out of my butt for what year headers to buy, but I have absolutely no idea as to what the difference between the years would be.

Alot of those factors (ie: auto tranny, opti, timing chain cover...) will not influence the choice of headers. Your biggest decision will be whether to purchase emissions headers or not. From there, the choice is easy...

I believe the main difference with the headers is the AIR fittings. If you don't keep emissions, then I wouldn't worry. If you want to keep emissions and have a 97 LT1 motor, then I would guess you would need that style header.

Here's the best way to do this... What year is the actual car that the headers are going in? If you do get caught in an inspection, technically you need the emmisions system that came on the CAR, not the engine. I know that sounds rediculous, but emmisions systems are not supposed to be modified in any way. If it's an OBDI car, I guess you could buy the non-emmisions headers though and hope that you never get a tech that knows what he's looking at. My roomate actually had a TA with an iron block 6.0L in it with 6.0 heads, and the only thing they questioned in the inspection was his LSX intake manifold... Which was ironically the only piece of the motor that was designed to go in that car...
