longtube dilema
longtube dilema
Well I have jethots at the moment and went over a curb recently and the drivers side is bent about an inch or so inwards I know no way of fixing it so I figured I would get some more since these are rusting anyhow. Well then I get to thinking I got to pass emissions here in february, so I start to consider the flp stuff and heard a mix of opinions and they arent EXACTLY what I want then thought about custom exhaust yada yada. My dream exhaust (still not sure on the sizing since I dont know how far I will go with the motor) is basically 3 inch duals to a 2.5 after the x pipe with removable cats that can be interchanged with off road pipes right before the x pipe and some 3" cutouts right after the x pipe leading down to 2.5" pipes and then some 12" bullets after the cutouts and Im going to try and get them over the rear axle if not then oh well. Does this sound like a decent idea, no idea what it will cost really, duals seem to be really expensive around here, dallas area? I want to be able to pass smog testing and have a quieter car while having the option of going loud again and make very good power
. Im running open longtube headers right now and have been for nearly a year on my daily driver, gotten used to it and its ****ing awesome but may be nice to not have your ears ring after long trips and feel like youve just spent 2 hours inside an electric massager... or atleast to be able to control when that happens
Ideas are very welcome since mine seems to be somewhat complicated...

Re: longtube dilema
You drive open headers for a year DD ?!?!
Have you gotten any noise tickets?
My car is open headers right now, but maybe mine is worse because i have heads and a cc306 cam. Im going with true dual 3" into x and then flowtech afterburner mufflers. Im not sure how well this will work, but i will let you know when i get it done.

Re: longtube dilema
Nope I dont get noise tickets, I thought my dump was loud and almost didnt want to drive it then I put the longtubes on with no exhaust and it was 2 fold what the dump was but I got used to it and no one else seems to care unless i start my car near someone not expecting it like at a sonic or something, give people heart attacks
Never heard of that muffler by the way and Im sure heads an cam would sound a little meaner still with open longtubes lol. Anyways what do you guys think of my dream exhaust idea or does anyone have any suggestions cause that seems kind of complex for an exhaust system but I really dont want to have teh cats and mufflers sapping out bits of power all the time you know?
