Question Longer exhaust valves....setting lash???

Well my heads/intake is finished but I just found out that my new Manley Race Flo 1.6 exhaust valves are .050-.060 longer than stock.

The springs (987's) were shimmed up more on the exhaust side to get proper install height but that makes valve height different right?

I wouldn't think that adjusting rocker arms would be any different than it would be before (1/4-1/2 turn past zero lash)....but does anyone else have any input on this.

Any forseeable problems with this? I'll be using stock length hardened pushrods as well.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Did you replace intake valves also?

How did you determine they will be the length that you will need?

What are your spring installed height(s)? What is lift at the valve? These variables plus valve length will affect the push rod length necessary for your combination of components. The chance/possibility that your oem length rods will be satisfactory is slim.

I don't like guessing.. so .050-.060 longer than stock isnt telling you much. Check the part numbers.. most people seem to buy the regular sbc 4.910" valves. Ferrea recognizes 4.910" as stock as well, but their ltX valves are 4.960"

You have to check to see what kind of pushrod length you'll need on the intake and exaust... It's like piston to valve clearance, it just has to be checked to do it properly.

Shimming the spring does not change the valve stem height.
