longblock reinstall parts what order
longblock reinstall parts what order
Ive searched for reinstallation of parts order and yeilded no good results. I am using a phone for my search but if anyone knows of a link or dont mind giving me a quick order of what first then next it would be much appreciated as then I could do individual searches if I had any questions. Ive already had to backtrack but it was needed anyway to get the motor on the engine stand since I am working alone. I thank anyone in advance. Pretty much ive got the oil pump and feed tube on timing cover on with seals replaced except the water pump drive seal. Ready to drop the pan on unless I should be doing something first. Have the oil filter adaper on. Again im limited to a phone and just need correct re-installation order or a link or anything of help. This is my first time and its been a little too long since pulling the old one out plus the order dont matter as much on dissassembly.
Re: longblock reinstall parts what order
Too much to list when we don't know where you stand with tools, time etc...Assuming the long block is completed, you don't have too much hard stuff left. If this is your first crack at putting a motor together, I strongly recommend getting a book and/or someone who has done one before. The nice thing about a book is it usually comes with torque specs and patterns. Make sure you get one for an LT1 (Gen II) as there are differences between them and the Gen I motors. Also, check out Shoebox's site, he has a lot of info on there like "how to's" and so forth. You can also do searches on here but I know what you mean by using a phone, it can be difficult. Hope this helps a little.

Re: longblock reinstall parts what order
Im in lewiston idaho. So far ive put the oil pump in and to get feed tube in I used a battery clamp and a c-clamp tight on that and tapped it on with hammer and worked great. Then put timing cover and rear main on with new seals and put pan on. Then used a oil priming tool to prime the system and get oil through it. Dont forget to put the oil pressure sensor on back of block behind intake or you will shoot oil everywere.I then put intake on. Then I clearanced my valve covers. I put a new crank hub on with key and new crank bolt using spacer from old bolt as was informed its discontinued. I put knock sensor back in block. I do use shobox and other sites for my torque and info. The valve cover clearance golen engines has a good picture and then I used a dab of grease in key spots and no gasket on valve cover and turned motor over and looked for any touching and was good.
LOL I realized I had forgotten to block that port off just last night when I primed mine. Ironic that the port is right about at waist level right where you are standing if the engine is on a stand...you find out right away!
Re: longblock reinstall parts what order
Valve lash was set and yes sealed up the corners on the pan. Oh the other thing to check is my rear main seal rolled on install and couldn't see it till was looking it over with flashlight. So carefully inspect seals for things like that before putting pan on. Yes the geyser of the oil sensor will quickly remind you .
