long tube under air intake elbow - does it do anything?

I'm installing my tb bypass. unhooking the intake elbow and there is this long tube going straight down and appears to be attached to something. Cant see where or what though. Does this thing serve any purpose? can I yank it if it doesnt?

Thanks.

Off the air intake, just before the throttle body? It's useless. Cut it off and cap it. Do a search for donkey dong or air intake resonator and you should find plenty of ideas on how to cap it. Someone makes a billet plug, too....might be MBA, but I can't remember....

Yes it does. It slows air flow down. Capping it off will help but it will not totally get rid of the air restriction. I am sure it doesnt slow the air down that much. Unless you plan on making some big HP and need all the air flow you can get, i would either leave it alone or cap it off as suggested above. If you plan on making big HP, get an aftermarket elbow where the resinotor is eliminated.
