Long tube heasders...Who has the best fit.

Still pondering going LT', but Im hearing bad things about fit. Collectors hitting the floorboards etc.
Who makes the best fitting headers for LT1, I want headers with y-pipe that will bolt up without having fitment issues.

Pace setter get my vote... No slip fit. Best headers for the money. They are cheaper than Jet hot.

Re: Long tube heasders...Who has the best fit.

My Kooks weren't bad. The driver side I just had to unhook the steering shaft and it slid right in with the oil filter in place. The passenger side I had to unbolt the motor mount and tilt the motor for about 1/4" of clearance. My only gripe is the short starter bolt is a little bit hard to get to now, but once you know the trick it ain't bad.

1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" LT1 race header

It seems unless you own an LS1, your long tubes are gonna bang the floorboard Otherwise, I installed the Pacesetter longtubes and the fitment was great but they slightly bang on the k-member a little bit, but this is due to tired motor mounts. Still, the quality of the headers is good and the price is very affordable.

Re: Long tube heasders...Who has the best fit.

It seems to me that most issues people are having come from tired motor mounts. That or maybe the header has a small defect from the factory which causes it not to fit perfect. My buddy bought a set of the Pacesetter long tubes and the same set has been installed on 3 differant cars ( we seem to have a problem with all our cars not running at the same time so we borrow parts alot) and they installed just fine on the 3 differant cars. Peace, Dustin.

Where did you get them, how much and to the collectors leak?

My Hookers worked great, never a fit issue and went in suprisingly easy.

Pacesetter hands down. I just did the install a few days ago and there were no fitment issues whatsoever. Pacesetter has revised their headers to eliminate the fitment issues people have had with them before. I highly recomend putting in a set of poly motor mounts at the same time to avoid any issues with the headers hitting the floorboard.

My Kook's don't bang the floorboard at all. Although I'm starting to suspect the loud ticking noise coming from my car is an exhaust leak at the slip-fit collectors.

Ok I am going to Add the **New** Pace Setters to my Xmas list. Whats the part number and where to buy them from?

Where did you get the Motor mounts from? I was planninng of doing motor mounts and ditchin my tranny mount for a softer one after that.... Are the LS1 motor mounts interchangable? they have more HP how are the mounts holding up?

The part number for the coated race version (no air or egr) is 72C2239. I'll send you a PM for a good place to get them from. I bought the Prothane motor mounts part number 7-508-BL from Summit for $39.95.
