If i were to do it all over again id run emissions-legal 94-95 mac midlengths to a single catco hi-flow cat(3") and then to your loudmouth

Re: long tube headers

would the 94-95 mac mids fit my 96 block w/o modification??? and can i get away with using only one cat if i have the mirror run under the car in NJ..bc my car has two cats??? and also with that whole mirror thing...is that just to make sure that i have cats or is it to also make sure they are in the correct locations??? bc ive heard both...

Re: long tube headers

I am new to the lt1 and do not know much about it. I talked to a mechanic today and told me the shorties would be a better fit for my car the way the lt1 is set up- tourque at low rpm- vs. long tubes which help cars with better tourque in the higher rpm. This is just what i am told. He is going to school at UTI and this is what he said they told him. Responses are welcome. I am confused now Thank you. -Andy

Re: long tube headers

Finished getting my LTs in today. Anyone that is considering Pacesetter LTs.. JUST DO IT! I worried about poor fitment or clearance problems, but they went in easy as hell and nothing is rubbing. I can change my plugs in about 20 minutes now as well

The worst I had to do was undo the steering shaft on the driver's side to get the header in (hooked it back up after installation - doesn't rub lock to lock) and I had to pull the bolt on the passenger's side and jack the motor up about an inch to get enough clearance there. These headers fit, look and sound great

iirc the only difference between exhaust setups is the y-pipe but i could be wrong...do a search

i have also heard both but most people i've talked to got away with it since the inspector was happy to at least see A cat under the car

Re: long tube headers

I bought Pacesetter LT's headers trying to save a couple bucks and it took over a month to get the headers which had warped flanges. Now it's month 3 and I still don't have the replacement headers.

get a different brand.

Re: long tube headers

KillerTA, where did you order from? I forget where I got mine now ( It was over 2 years ago) but their great. Fitment was fine. I mean, they were kind of a pain in the *** to get in, but it wasnt bad at all. Bolted right in. Flange was awesome. Its so much thicker than many other brands. Everything about them was right on my set. I didnt have to trip/bend/adjust a thing for them to fit.
