Locking Header Bolts. How to get retainer clip on?

I am putting on the Stage 8 locking header bolts. Any tips for getting the retainer clips on the bolts? I have all the bolts installed and have the indented washers on but can't figure out how to get the clips on. I can't get any type of device in their to force it and when I press with my finger it feels like it's gonna split my thumb open.

Any tips?

I just lined a small flathead screw driver up on my finger and forced them on.

I used the end of the stubby wrench I used to tighten those I couldn't get to with a rachet. Or like what was said, a big flat head screw driver. Use the header as a prying base. You know there on when they spin free. You will most likely drop them a number of times.

Where I could I used a long pair of needle nose pliers and where I couldn't I used a flat blade screwdriver.

I did a search and someone suggested running it through a few heat cycles first, then retightening them, and then putting on the clips. Has anyone NOT done this and suffered leaks as a result?

I did NOT do that, and I DONT have leaks. You will have to modify the retainers with a file to get them on.
