Re: Lloyd Elliot LE2 cam install a success
Thanks for the compliments fellas, Yall makin me blush
I'll answers some of the questions to the best of my ability.
1)The LE2 heads/cam package runs $1600. I had my heads for about 2 years give/take a few months. So I only had to buy the cam. Look for screename "Lloyd Elliot or Nighttrain". One of the post gives you a rundown of his cam packages, prices and what each stage head/cam package delivers
2)Anniverary z28....YGM.
3)Right now, I've revved my car to 6200-6300 rpm easy. RPM shutoff is sett at 6500. I'm going to wait until I put fully sythetics back into the car before I try to take it any higher. I'm running on my old tune, so I'm sure that's why my idle doesn't sound as aggressive as it should just yet.
4)Unfortunately, I have no way of doing a soundclip/video of the car....Sorry
5)I'm in the process of getting the LTs on right now. I hope to get here dynotuned at the end of October if all goes well. Even sooner if funds permit me to.
6)I don't know what traps my car will run or what the power output will be... I hope the car will be a SOLID mid 12 second car. Anything more will be icing on the cake.
7) I used Shoebox's tech page and as well as www.streetillusionsracing.com website. They were both invaluable along with everyone on the board.
I won't sit here and say the cam swap was easy. I was only going to change my opti and water pump. Since I was that close to the cam, I said why not give it a try. The rest is history. I got really frustrated at times, but the life savers was the websites and being able to just walk away and come back later after resting and drinking a few beers. Having a buddy for comic relief and turning a few wrenches is a great help as well. This was my very first cam change and I learned a lot. To anyone out there contimplating doing it yourself....Do it. Just be PATIENT and ORGANIZED.
Texas TA...I hope things go well for you. Good luck.
Take Care and I keep you all posted.

What RPM's are you other LE2 cam owners able to rev/ make power to? I'm going to be doing some tuning w/ mine soon as I'm sitting at 15:1 using my old tune. But still made decent power considering. LOL

it should turn to about 6500 maybe 6600 with proper tuning, it has considerable steeper ramps than the 847.
his number is 1-972-617-5671

but remember his cams like alot of timing and i mean alot, so you may lower the a/f/ratio abit and up the timing. i have some bin. files where the lowest timing was 38 degrees and the rest was 40 and 41, granted this was on a le3 cam, but that shows you how much timing it needs, or may take

Re: Lloyd Elliot LE2 cam install a success
custom cams are the ONLY way to go! just got my joe O package last night
the customs are only $50-$100 more then most shelf cams. better drivability then then big shelf cams, better performance and customs are usually billet cores. when you do something like a cam do it right.

Re: Lloyd Elliot LE2 cam install a success
I REALLY want to get this setup to replace my present cam. It's either that or supercharge since I know the LE2 wouldn't pass smog here in Cali. Smog is almost due here so once that's done and I get another 2 years, I wanna make a decision.
How is it while cruising light to light, say 1500rpms to 2300, is it sluggish? Did you port the intake/tb too?

Re: Lloyd Elliot LE2 cam install a success
Well I dont really race at the track, lack of funds for a 12 bolt, not to mention the hour drive to break something, but sometimes I like to run around town against some of the faster cars, and I wanted to get about mid to low 120 trap speeds on spray, so basically I could run with the bigger guns out here. Basically I'm not looking for ET, just the hp and top end.
Re: Lloyd Elliot LE2 cam install a success
Hey All,
I just had my Jett Hott Lts installed today. All I can say is GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY. A powerful deep sound.
I'm not bragging or anything,---I'm just excited--, but that darn car sounds just awsome.
I bought a y-pipe off one of the board members with two highflow cats already installed. The ONLY drawback is that the y-pipe hangs lower than I would like. Steep driveways and speedbumps will definately be a No No.
The installers said that If I wanted, I could have a custom y-made and have my cats switched over. I'm going to do that but at a later date because 99% of the places I go have level ground. Hell, I had a lowerd 5.0 at one time, so I'm used to manuvering around bumps and stuff.
Take Care.
Dynos #s coming soon....
