Lloyd Elliot Emission Cam

Lloyd Elliot Emission Cam
Has anybody installed the highest emission passing cam ? I can post a link but I'm wondering....Most guys install aftermarket cams (one) not knowing about the increased stress on the springs.....Given the cam, what are the chances the stock springs in the heads could handle it ? I know most guys set their rev limiter low to avoid over reving/stretching the factory springs. Also, programming needed ?

Both programming and springs are needed with any cam to get max potential. Even something like a hotcam will show gains with both. FWIW my old LT1 car showed loss of power up top on the dyno which I believe was due to valve float.

I run a custom smog cam from Lloyd, 222/230 112 LSA. I run the old 918 beehives with it and no problems. Barely passed CA smog.
Stock springs can barely handle the stock cam, do not run them with an aftermarket cam.

Definitely upgrade the springs too. I trusted the shop when they flowbenched my heads... "we've been doing this for 40 years" and they installed BB springs. Well, the spring broke in two places, dropped a valve... heavy damage and wasted the head.
1) Don't use stock springs
2) The info from the threads on this board (use discretion and know who to listen too) is better than most shops. In this case... springs to go with the lift on your cam.
