A little black smoke on the dyno at high RPM's????

well at higher RPM's on the dyno today i noticed soem black smoke. The AF ratip was about 13 to 1 and very steady. Is this the car runnign rich? I have a small exhaust leak and no cat, could that cause it?

is this anything to worry about?

could this be a leaky injector?

the car runs perfect tho and never skips a beat, what do you think?

I think that is going to be pretty normal. I just went with a buddy of mine to have his car dyno tuned and it did the very same thing when the car was near redline and the dyno operator backed out of it. The cars A/F was right on and it runs perfectly. So I don't thing that there is much to worry about. Come to think of it, mine did the same thing on the dyno and I have LT's, y pipe and no cats.

You're just burning out all the high RPM carbon deposits!

NO its probably high RPM spark blow out, prolly won't indicate on the dyno right away, try making your gap smaller or install 8 coils like the LTCC lol

Sounds pretty normal to me. Should have seen my first supercharger dyno, above 4500 the car was putting out enough black smoke to choke a diesel.
