List of parts for cam swap and refresh

As I posted in another thread I had my car overheat once and then a couple weeks later the headgasket finally went. While it is in the shop I am gonna have my brother put a cc503 cam in it as well since the motor is gonna be out. Here is the list I have so far.

-CC503 Cam pn 75038
-CC NSA 1.6 RR's 7/16" pn 1305-16
-GMPP Guide plates
-ARP Rocker Studs 7/16" pn 1347103
-CC Behive Springs pn 26918-16
-Spring locator pn 4705-16
-CC Steel retainers and locks pn 787-16 & 648-16
-LT4 Timing Chain
-CC Hardened Pushrods pn 7808-16
-CC High Energy Lifters pn 850-16
-Heads and Cam Gasket Set from Thunder Racing
-ARP Head Bolts pn 134-3601
-Federal Mogul Cam Bearings pn 1235m
-Federal Mogul Main Bearings pn 139m
-CC Valve Seals pn 501-16
-Sealed Power Piston Rings pn E-251K

Hopefully this list is complete and will serve as a reference for people doing this swap in the future. If not please let me know what I need to change, delete, or add.

Looks good. Are you going with stock rotating assembly?

Yes. This is about all I have the budget for. I did leave myself a little room incase I needed something else.

I'd at least go with some forged pistons and ARP rod bolts and resize the rods. You don't wanna take the engine apart again after you decide to get some badass heads.

I really don't have the money at all to do that right now or believe me I would. I am doing as much as I can right now. It will satisfy me for a while till I build up enough money to really do some stuff to it.

Ok, I just don't want you to regret it later when you wanna put some nitrous or some serious heads on there and everyone asks if you have forged pistons or not?

If I do heads down the road it will just be some stock heads ported by LE and I might spray 100 shot on it later. Stock pistons should be fine for that.

The list looks good. You can try to save some money by finding some of the parts used and the others from the supporting vendors when they offer sales. That is what I have been doing and I have most of my parts rounded up for my heads/cam buildup. Also, set aside some extra money for either a dyno tune or mail-order tune.

I currently have a madz28 tune and the cable I need to hook it up to my car. I'll just have to let him know about the updates so he can send me a new file. Yea I have been checking the for sale forum daily and checked every supporting vendor for each part to get the best prices I could.

My comments

The list looks good. I would suggest that if your heads are stock you go
with the +.050 locks. With the +.050 locks you will have an installed
height very close to 1.75".

Also be sure to change the water pump gear (press off the old one and
press on the one from the LT4 kit).

Do you have the part number for those locks?? I was just using the ones that comp cams suggested on their website.

Thanks CustomSSI. Sent you a PM. Also will I be ok with stock injectors or will I need larger ones?

Well I keep thinking about this and if I decided to have the block bored out to make it a 355 could I just add pistions like these??

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
