Lightweight flywheel swap

I'm interested in a lightweight flywheel swap. Say maybe fidanza or SLP. Anyway, when you get a lightweight wheel do you have to swap the balancing counter weights from the stock flywheel over to the lightweight unit? Or are the lightweights already correctly balanced for LT1's?

thanks

pins

Let me clearify. I plan on using an F-body flywheel on my corvette. On the corvette dual mass flywheel there are weights pressed into holes in the backside used to balance the wheel from the factory. The f-body wheel I have doesn't have any kind of weights pressed into the backside at all, but it does have some maching marks on the backside where I would guess material was removed for the same purpose. I got the f-body flywheel used. I just need to know if the f-body wheels had pins/weights as well or if the original owner removed those weights when they upgraded to lightweight unit.

I had the SLP FW/PP installed in my car in '99 and don't recall. I installed a replacement McLeod clutch in the car in '02. I had the FW turned but don't recall having to do anything special with the FW or seeing any add-on weights on the unit. I know this is not very helpful, but all I can offer.

I will say I like a light weight FW. I wouldn't recommend an off-road FW that drops over 10lbs or so. I think it would really adversely affect the streetability.

I did not swap any weights when I installed my SLP flywheel. Just pulled it out of the box and bolted it on.
