lighter pistons, rods, etc

Going on the premis of lighter being faster; what kind of pistons, rods, etc would you guys suggest that would be light but yet really strong? I'm guessing that the lighter the internals the faster they will move thus giving more power is this correct?

it doesnt "give" it more power. It just frees up power that would have normally been lost in the consumption of the motor's power

When you talk light but strong, you are talking big $$$. Before getting specfic you would need to specify what you are building. A high budget NA screamer, a blower motor, or what? At some point, no matter how good the materials, design, and manufacturing of a part it will need to have a certain mass to absorb a given stress. The expected longevity of the part will play into how massive it needs to be as well. If you stress a component near its' absolute yield strength it will fail much more quickly than a part that is stronger.

What he said, a reduction in reciprocating weight is much better than a reduction in static weight.

thanks guys. I'm building a 355 and I'm looking (hoping) to get about 400+ rwhp. I'm keeping it NA. So with the info you guys gave me what piston, rods, valvetrain would you recommend? I'm on a budget so nothing too pricey.
By the way larnach that's the comp cam xe 224/230 it sounds great. what rpm range does it have?

Stock crank, Eagle rods, SRP pistons. Cams are a big subject, opinions about them abound. They are like ********, everyone has one.
