Lifters

Well Ive been reading all the bad comments about these Comp R lifters and Im glad I searched before I bought them..Im in the process of buildilng a 383 going have to LE3 heads on it. I have the Crane Cam # 109651. What lifters would yall recommend getting? Would OEM be fine? I dont want to spend all that money on Comp R's and they crap out on me. Does crane make any good lifters?

Re: Lifters

Man you would figure they would do something about this after all these people that have had problems with them. Any other lifters out there beside comp that are any good? Also any power loss from running OEMs besides aftermarket?

Re: Lifters

What is your springs? If beehives, get OEM lifters.. Its all about springs.. For example if 977 springs are your choice (more pressure) I would go with Morel lifters.. Very expensive, but top notch quality..
So less pressure springs >> OEM lifters (and a rev kit)
more pressure springs >> Morel lifters (no rev kit required)

875's are the R's and the 850's are the OEM replacements.

Do a search and look at the pics of blown up lifters. I've personally broke, or cracked 9 of the retaining clips in my R's.

Re: Lifters

Im replacing a Comp R that I busted the clip off. I have a set of Morels soaking in oil waiting to go in. I think this weekend when I do the swap, I will take some side by side pics of the Morels, Comp R's, and stockers. Not just pics of the outside, but also of the internals, so this way people can see the difference for themselves. My work is already a 1/3 of the way done, as the Comp R took itself apart already.

Re: Lifters

R stands for racing. Comp says not to use them on the street.
