lifter swap..Need to drain coolant??

Hey guys I'm going to be changing the lifters in my 94 Z but do I need to drain the coolant like on the older SBC? I have never torn down an LT1 but from pics I found it looks like there are no water jackets that come up through the heads and in to the intake. Just want to make sure before I start taking it apart. Also what are some good replacement lifters? It's a stock cam and springs

nope you dont have to drain the coolant. Pull the valve covers, rocker arms, pushrods, intake manifold, spider/retainers in the lifter valley, and voila; you have your lifters. Stock replacements are your best bet unless you want to measure for different pushrods which would be completely unnecessary for your setup

Coolant does run through the throttle body, if you have not done the TB bypass, so you will have to deal with that.

yea I have the bypass done already. So where is the best place to buy lifters? Would something like sealed power lifters be ok or should I go with GM?

Go with either the GMPP or LS7 lifters.

Why do you think you need to replace lifters??

I see a LOT of claims about bad lifters and VERY VERY few of them ever endup being lifters. The stockers are reliable.

These lifters have over 200k on them. The engine was rebuilt but the guy reused the old lifters. I have some that tick a little. I have ran the valves several times but there are a few of them that won't quiet down. They will get quiet but then in a few seconds they will start tapping again. It's like they are bleeding off. So I'm just gunna replace all of them. In my opinion they all should of been replaced anyway when he rebuilt the engine.

I dont know about the gmpp lifters, but with the ls7 lifters you will need to recheck pr length because the cups are more shallow. Stock replacements are fine

The GMPP's are the stock replacement. If you get the kit it includes lifters, spider hold-down, and the locators.
