Lifter noise??????

Alright, newly built 388 is making a little noise, doesn't sound like a knock, and doesn't sound like a ping. It seems to be a lifter noise to me, can hear it under the intake. I went from the cc306 .510/.540 to cc468 .584/.579 and I have the Crane Cams 10308 valve springs. Alright with 1.6 rr I think it puts me up to .600 on ea side. The lifters have about 50k+ on them, maybe even more, been through 2 other motors. The guy that sold it to me claimed them to be LT4 lifters but they look just like the stock LT1 lifters. Maybe I pushed them to the limit, and they finally gave in. How could I check this? I have the magnum push rods so the lifters are basically the weak point. If anyone knows how I could test to see if it's the lifters please let me know. Thanks

yeh, the lt4 lifters look the same, they wont really stand out at all, it could be the aftermarket 1.6 rockers, with longtube headers, especially pacesetter youll definitely hear some rocker noise

So you don't think the lifters could be bad? It pops and backfires and runs rich and sometimes has an SES. I had Mids before and didn't hear the sound, and had the same rockers etc. on my 360. So would LT's really make that much a difference with sound?

Re: Lifter noise??????

who adjusted your valves. they might be over tightened. or not have enough preload. both of which would cause excessive noise and poor running.

Going to adjust valves. Popping I think is from my o2 code: no signal, heat signal bad or something and the damn MAF, put a new Maf on so I think it's actually the damn o2 only.
