Lifter Exploded
Well, I had a lifter that was going bad and tapping like a mother, but suddenly last night, it finally went bad completely. It exploded and I had the car towed back to my house. Now, I am going to tear down the engine and do cam, lifters, springs, rockers, etc. I want to begin dissassembling everything today, but wanted to make sure that there was nothing special to do or take into consideration.
I plan on leaving the engine in the car, and just removing everything that's in the way of the intake manifold and heads, then just removing the intake manifold and heads and rebuilding them. I just wanted to make sure that everything canjust be unbolted, and no sensors would be going bad like on the MAF or anything like that.
Any comments or advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Reason I am posting is because once I read what you posted, I went into shock and amazement.
That is EXACTLY what the problem was on my car. One of the spark plugs stripped its way out of the head and the cylinder was open. OMG. Wow, no way. lol, I'm done.
