Let the fun begin

Ok, finally I am ready to get underway on modifying my car. Currently I have a 1994 Z28 T56 with 32,955 miles. The ONLY thing done to the car is the SLP LM exhaust system. I am ready for something else. I want to go ahead an put a cam in it. I have to replace the plugs, wires, and valve cover gaskets, so while I am under the hood I want to do it all at once. Now is where I need your help. If I put a cam in my car, do I need to do ANYTHING else to it, such as an aftermarket intake, new vavle springs, etc., and if so what brand should I go with? Also, with the actual cam, what grind and brand should I go with on that? I was reading on T-Byrne motorsports that a 210/272 grind should be fine. Is that correct? I don't plan on doing any MAJOR modifications such as going into the block anytime soon, I just want to run in the mid to high 8's. What brand plugs and wires should I go with? Like I said, I only have the SLP LM exhaust system, do you recommend me investing in the LT4 knock module or a 160 degree thermostat or any other accessories. I am putting my F-Body in the mercy of your hands, if it were as your own. Just trying to gather some opinions, thanks for your help.

Steve,

Before you go crazy with a cam, IMO, you should install headers and a y-pipe first. That will give you a nice gain, and it will make the cam much more effective.

Yep, you should do headers before, or with the cam install. You'll see a much bigger increase. By the way, nice mileage on your 94. I've got a little over 36k on my 93.

Yea, I would do headers and a y-pipe. While you are doing that do a high flow cat too so it opens it all up for the cam. I would do a LT4 KM at the same time also. ANd you know what they say the Cold Air Intake is one of the best buys you can make for the money. But it isn't needed to do the cam. I would start thinking of that after the cam.

The CAI is probably the first thing I'd do if I were him.

Well I would do it first but if he wants a cam the cai is not needed to do it.
