Leaky front seal on 96 lt1

what work is involved in changing the front seal on a 96 lt1? im leaking rather nicely from the front of the block, and i have a dented oil pan that is leaking from the top seal... wtc...

what would i need to disassemble and what would i need to buy?

mine has a small leak from the same place. Replacing the one piece oil pan gasket sucks from what I hear. The pan can not be removed without raising the engine, however it will drop a bit to allow you to work the gasket in and around. Just getting to the bolts is a challenge.

I am going to degrease the area wher its leaking and pack some gray RTV in there to try to stop the leak first. It appears that many have done the same thing and been lucky.

Not having stock exhaust and no a/c will help out alot, but it should be possible with a stock motor to take the bolts out of the pan.

You talking about the top seal of the timing cover? If so, replace your water pump geardrive assembly and replace the seal. That should solve your problem...
