Leaks 2 quarts every 1K miles.

I have a '93 Z28 M6 with 160K miles.

There is a bad oil leak on the back of the intake manifold. Lots of oil on the ground, not being burnt. I'm going to fix it soon.

My question is If it leaks 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. Do I still need to change the oil every 3000 to 5000 miles? I currently has 5000+ miles on this change and it has leaked 10 quarts of oil over the past few months.

I wouldn't worry too much about it until you get the leak fixed if you're going through that much oil.

If it leaks 2 quarts every 1k miles and you have put 10 more quarts in, thats like saying uv changed oil twice already. Of course at the point where you are, you don't do oil changes you just add more. Id recommend getting that leak fixed soon.

fix the intake leak. you'll probably spend more money on oil, than the parts it cost to fix it.

you still should change the oil filter out at the 3K mark... other then that just as long as the color of the oil isn't dark your ok.
